Communities in Schools is America’s largest and most effective organization dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping them succeed in life. Communities in Schools of Chicago partners with schools and other community organizations to connect low-income students with resources, including free social, emotional, health and enrichment programs that have been proven to improve the well-being of under-resourced students.



CreatiVets uses various forms of art, including songwriting, visual arts, music and creative writing, to help disabled veterans cope with service-related trauma (i.e., post-traumatic stress, or PTS) by fostering self-expression in a way that allows them to transform their struggles into an art form that can inspire and motivate continued healing. Creative art forms have shown tremendous effectiveness in reducing PTS symptoms and improving the quality of life for veterans and their family members.

Reading in Motion

The goal for Reading in Motion is to get every student reading at grade level or above during their early years, especially students who need greater support due to their circumstances. Through an arts-enriched curriculum in both English and Spanish, they are able to get an average of 80% of students reading at or above grade level, a dramatic increase over the typical public school curriculum alone.
